Psychic Self-defense

Keith Randolph

What is your chance of being psychically attacked at some point in your life? It is fairly high, the evidence suggests. That does not necessarily mean that you will be victimized in a dramatic, life-threatening way, but it is distinctly possible that at some time or another you will incur the wrath of someone whose anger at you will find paranormal expression, whether your attacker realizes it or not. (If he does realize it and knows exactly what he is doing, you could be in for a very harrowing time.) But fierce, concentrated anger can trigger malevolent psychokinesis or bring an evil elemental into the picture, even if the human agent doesn’t know that such things are possible. Ours is an intensely stressful, violent, competitive age. There is much negative energy polluting our psychic environment, and growing numbers of people are turning to the occult. Most of them, fortunately, are doing it with the best of motives—to enhance their own spiritual development and to play their own small parts in the evolutionary betterment of the human race. As in any human endeavor, however, there are those who use their powers for destructive ends. The occasional press accounts of ritual killings of people and animals represent only the tip of the iceberg. Much of the negative occultism is not occurring on a physical level. In a society that officially rejects the "psychic" as superstitious foolishness, practitioners of occult evil have virtually free rein to prey on helpless persons who have no idea how to protect themselves. Most of all, remember: You don’t have to be a victim. You have the power. It is in your aura. All you have to do is to recognize and tap it. You will be astonished at what happens to you. You will be able to draw on two worlds: the material world and the spiritual world—and you will never be the same again. Protection from psychic attack is merely the first step on the path to new worlds of adventure and enlightenment. Are you ready for the journey? While psychic self-defense is just one element of a total program of psychic well-being that involves daily exercises to channel spiritual energies and strengthen your aura, there is no reason that you should remain without psychic protection … starting right now! Take an object that you can wear or keep with you at all times. A ring or wrist watch will do, but a bracelet, necklace, or waist-chain is better. Clean the chosen object in some way: the feeling that it is really clean should culminate what you’ve done. Seat yourself comfortably, preferably with your back straight, your feet together, and the chosen object held loosely in your strongest hand. Close your eyes and physically relax your body. Breathe slowly and evenly. With each in-breath feel a flow of energy rise from your feet to the top of your head, and with each out-breath feel that energy flow from the top of your head to your feet. Feel yourself calmly growing in strength as the energy flows through your body. After ten or more breaths, when you feel strong and alert, visualize a sphere of pure white light just above your head and know that this is your own Highest Self—free of all fear and pain, pure in the Divine Force that is everywhere. Visualize that sphere forming an egg-shape of intense blue light all around you, and know that this is your psychic shield that will protect you from harm as it grows in strength. Continue breathing gently and evenly, feeling the strength in your body while holding this image. Grasp the chosen object tightly in your hand, and feel that strength suddenly surge into your hand and into the object. Hold that object, hold that feeling, and hold the image of your psychic shield all around you. Project that fully charged battery, constantly energizing your psychic shield. You are protected! But psychic well-being depends on a daily program. Start that as soon as possible so that you grow in strength and spiritual.resources.

Hands On

Clenching Your Right Fist Improves Memory
So often we take our hands for granted. Consider how many portraits and photographs focus on out head while a majority of what we do and who we are -- our work and expression -- is the result of our contact with the outside world through our hands. More than any other part of our body, our hands are anatomical structures that create and maintain civilization. Before there was spoken language, there were gestures and hand signs.
What do we really know about our hands?
Ruth Propper and colleagues from Montclair State University have just published a paper in the journal, PLOS ONE (April 2013), which demonstrates the previously unknown use of hands in improving memory.
Participants in the research study were split into groups and asked to first memorize, and later recall words from a list of 72 random words. It's a daunting task under normal circumstances, unless you are a trained memory expert, which the participants were not.
In the experiment there were 4 groups who clenched their hands; One group clenched their right fist for about 90 seconds immediately prior to memorizing the list and then did the same immediately prior to recollecting the words. Another group clenched their left hand prior to both memorizing and recollecting. Two other groups clenched one hand prior to memorizing (either the left or right hand) and the opposite hand prior to recollecting. A control group did not clench their fists at any point.

So what happened?
The group that clenched their right fist when memorizing the list and then clenched the left when recollecting the words performed better than all the other hand clenching groups.
According to Ruth Propper, lead scientist,

"The findings suggest that some simple body movements -- by temporarily changing the way the brain functions -- can improve memory. Future research will examine whether hand clenching can also improve other forms of cognition, for example verbal or spatial abilities." [1]
The authors say that further work is needed to test whether their results with word lists also extend to memories of visual stimuli like remembering a face, or spatial tasks, or where keys, iPhone or the TV remote were placed. Based on previous work, the authors suggest that this effect of hand-clenching on memory may be because clenching a fist activates specific brain regions (left prefrontal cortex) that are also associated with memory formation.
But we can all try this experiment for ourselves. Here's how:

  • Get a any magazine or newspaper article and black out any names or places in the text.
  • Select a number, say 5, and then copy every 5th word to a paper until you have a few dozen. The experiment used 72 words but your list can vary.
  • Use this list as your more-or-less "random" list and try the above experiment with your friends and family.
Some interesting questions are how the test results vary in left-handed v. right-handed individuals... maybe you can find a difference. But remember to have a control... someone who performs the test without making a fist. Compare the results. Let me know what you find.

Clenching Left Hand Helps Athletes Avoid Choking Under Pressure
Some athletes may improve their performance under pressure simply by squeezing a ball or clenching their left hand before competition to activate certain parts of the brain, according to new research published by the American Psychological Association.
One doesn't have to be an athlete to have stress in today's world so this research should interest anyone who has to "get it together" and function at their peak levels.
In three experiments with experienced soccer players, judo experts and badminton players, researchers in Germany tested the athletes' skills during practice and then in stressful competitions before a large crowd or video camera.
Right-handed athletes who squeezed a ball in their left hand before competing were less likely to choke under pressure than right-handed players who squeezed a ball in their right hand. The study was published online in theJournal of Experimental Psychology: General (September 2012).
Juergen Beckmann, PhD, chair of sport psychology at the Technical University of Munich in Germany, explains the phenomenon

"Rumination (i.e. thinking too deeply about their performance) can interfere with concentration and performance of motor tasks. Athletes usually perform be
Essentially, Dr. Beckman is saying that athletes should trust their muscle memory and clear their minds by squeezing a ball.
Previous research has shown that rumination is associated with the brain's left hemisphere, while the right hemisphere is associated with superior performance in automated behaviors, such as those used by some athletes. The right hemisphere controls movements of the left side of the body, and the left hemisphere controls the right side. The researchers theorized that squeezing a ball or clenching the left hand would activate the right hemisphere of the brain and reduce the likelihood of the athlete's choking under pressure.
The study focused exclusively on right-handed athletes because some relationships between different parts of the brain aren't as well understood for left-handed people, according to the authors.
In fact, there is quite a spectrum of left-handedness. Some "lefties" only write with the left hand but play golf, hold a bat and do other activities with their right hand. Some left handed people can read backwards or upside down, some can not. what their coaches told them during practice. While it may seem counterintuitive, consciously trying to keep one's balance is likely to produce imbalance, as was seen in some sub-par performances by gymnasts during the Olympics in London."

"The research could have important implications outside athletics. Elderly people who are afraid of falling often focus too much on their movements, so right-handed elderly people may be able to improve their balance by clenching their left hand before walking or climbing stairs."
"Many movements of the body can be impaired by attempts at consciously controlling them," he said. "This technique can be helpful for many situations and tasks." -- Beckmann

This ball-squeezing technique probably wouldn't help athletes whose performance is based on strength or stamina, such as weightlifters or marathon runners. The effects apply to athletes whose performance is based on accuracy and complex body movements, such as soccer players or golfers.

Is Your Left Hand More Motivated Than Your Right Hand?
According to Mathias Pessiglione, of the Brain & Spine Institute in Paris (Sepember 2010) motivation doesn't have to be conscious. Your brain can decide how much it wants something without input from your conscious mind! This new study shows that both halves (hemispheres) of your brain don't even have to agree. Motivation can happen in one side of the brain at a time.
Once again, we are reminded that the brain is actually TWO brains that cooperate, or not, to perform different tasks in our daily life. Which half does which job is largely what determines our personality.
Here are the traits of each hemisphere per Roger Sperry (1973):

LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS

uses logic
detail oriented
facts rule
words and language
present and past
math and science
can comprehend
knowing
acknowledges
order/pattern perception
knows object name
reality based
forms strategies
practical
safe
RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS

uses feeling
"big picture" oriented
imagination rules
symbols and images
present and future
philosophy & religion
can "get it" (i.e. meaning)
believes
appreciates
spatial perception
knows object function
fantasy based
presents possibilities
impetuous

Psychologists used to think that motivation was a conscious process. You know you want something, so you try to get it. But a few years ago experiments showed that motivation could be subconscious; when people saw subliminal pictures of a reward, even if they didn't know what they'd seen, they would try harder for a bigger reward.
Back in the 1950s, cinemas across the coulnry were successfully inserting frames into their shows that were viewed for only a fraction of a second (1/16th) but were able to prompt viewers to buy Coca-Cola or popcorn. So-called subliminal advertising showed the strength of sub-conscious motivation.

In an earlier study, volunteers were shown pictures of either a one-Euro coin or a one-Cent coin for a tiny fraction of a second. They did not perceive it consciously. Then they were told to squeeze a pressure-sensing handgrip. The harder they squeezed the grip, the more of the "coin" they would get. The image was subliminal, so volunteers didn't know how big a coin (or its value) they were squeezing for, but they would still squeeze harder for one euro than one cent. That result showed that motivation didn't have to be conscious.
The New Study
For the new study, researchers wanted to know if one side of the brain could be motivated at a time.
The test started with having the subject focus on a cross in the middle of the computer screen. Then the motivational coin -- one euro or one cent -- was shown on one side of the visual field. People were only subliminally motivated when the coin appeared on the same side of the visual field as the squeezing hand. For example, if the coin was on the right and they were squeezing with the right hand, they would squeeze harder for a euro than for a cent. But if the subliminal coin appeared on the left and they were squeezing on the right, they wouldn't squeeze any harder for a euro.

Are Emotions Reversed in Left-Handers' Brains?

According to Daniel Casasanto and Geoffrey Brookshire of The New School for Social Research in New York (May 2012), the way we use our hands may determine how emotions are organized in our brains.
In a recent study published in PLoS ONE, psychologists explain how emotions are classified as either "approach motivated" (i.e. wanting something) or withdraw (avoid) motivation. Consider your feelings about having a good meal verses, say, paying taxes.
Motivation, the drive to approach or withdraw from physical and social stimuli, is a basic building block of human emotion and socialization. For decades, scientists have believed that approach motivation is computed mainly in the left hemisphere of the brain, and withdraw motivation in the right hemisphere.
A new study challenges this idea, showing that a well-established pattern of brain activity, found across dozens of studies in right-handers, completely reverses in left-handers.
The study used electroencepahlography (EEG) to compare activity in participants' right and left hemispheres during rest. After having their brain waves measured, participants completed a survey measuring their level of approach motivation, a core aspect of our personalities.

In right-handers, stronger approach motivation was associated with greater activity in the left hemisphere than the right, consistent with previous studies. But... Left-handers showed the opposite pattern: approach motivation was associated with greater activity in the right hemisphere than the left.
Why is this so weird?
Most cognitive functions do not reverse with handedness. Language, for example, is mainly in the left hemisphere for the majority of right- and left-handers. But these results were not unexpected.

"We predicted this hemispheric reversal because we observed that people tend to use different hands to perform approach- and avoidance-related actions... Approach actions are often performed with the dominant hand, and avoidance actions with the non-dominant hand.""Approach motivation is computed by the hemisphere that controls the right hand in right-handers, and by the hemisphere that controls the left hand in left-handers ... We don't think this is a coincidence. Neural circuits for motivation may be functionally related to circuits that control hand actions -- emotion may be built upon neural circuits for action, in evolutionary or developmental time."
Daniel Casasanto, co-Author
Implications for the treatment of depression and anxiety disorders
To treat depression and anxiety disorders, brain stimulation is used to increase neural activity in the patient's left hemisphere, long believed to the 'approach motivation hemisphere'.

"Given what we show here, this treatment, which helps right-handers, may be detrimental to left-handers -- the exact opposite of what they need.""The discovery that approach motivation reverses with handedness may lead to safer, more effective neural therapies for left-handers. It's something we're investigating now."
--Brookshire, co-Author [4]

Right-Handedness Prevailed 500,000 Years Ago!
According to a report in ScienceDaily, right-handedness is a distinctively human characteristic, with right-handers outnumbering lefties nine-to-one. But how far back does right-handedness reach in the human story? And how would you determine this?

Researchers have tried looking at ancient tools, prehistoric art and human bones, but the results have not been definitive. Ancient imprints of hands, such as produced by spattering pigment around the fingers, raises the question of which hand was dominant -- the hand being outlined or the hand doing the spatter?
Now, David Frayer, professor of anthropology at the University of Kansas, has used markings on fossilized human front teeth to show that right-handedness goes back more than 500,000 years.
A study published in the British journal Laterality shows that distinctive markings on fossilized teeth correlate to the right or left-handedness of individual prehistoric humans.

Just imagine yourself chewing on a bone. The angle of your bite marks would be different depending upon which hand held the bone.
"The patterns seen on the fossil teeth are directly and consistently produced by right or left hand manipulation in experimental work."
-- Frayer, Author of study
The oldest teeth come from a more than 500,000-year-old cave chamber known as Sima de los Huesos near Burgos, Spain. It contains the remains of humans believed to be ancestors of European Neandertals. Other teeth studied by Frayer come from later Neandertal populations in Europe.

"These marks were produced when a stone tool was accidentally dragged across the labial face in an activity performed at the front of the mouth. The heavy scoring on some of the teeth indicates the marks were produced over the lifetime of the individual and are not the result of a single cutting episode."
Overall, Frayer and his co-authors found right-handedness in 93.1 percent of individuals sampled from the Sima de los Huesos and European Neandertal sites.

"It is difficult to interpret these fossil data in any way other than that laterality was established early in European fossil record and continued through the Neandertals. This establishes that handedness is found in more than just recent Homo sapiens." [5]
Frayer said that his findings on right-handedness have implications for understanding the language capacity of ancient populations, because language is primarily located on the left side of the brain, which controls the right side of the body, there is a right handedness-language connection.

"The general correlation between handedness and brain laterality shows that human brains were lateralized in a 'modern' way by at least half a million years ago and the pattern has not changed since then. There is no reason to suspect this pattern does not extend deeper into the past and that language has ancient, not recent, roots."
Left Handedness in Sports and Athletics
Studies have found that there are fewer left handed athletes in sports that require teamwork and cooperation. Sports like basketball and football are excellent examples. Left handers make up only about 17% of these teams. But if we look at sports requiring individual skills, things like boxing and baseball, left handers make up a majority of 50%. [6]
There must be a good reason that evolution has allowed people to be left handed -- and at a fairly consistent rate of about 10% -- in the general population. Perhaps they can do some useful things that right handed people cannot do... or maybe the fact that they are right-brain dominant is the factor that makes them unique. More research is needed to answer these questions.

Life is about

No matter what disadvantages I have, I stay as positive as I can, which helps me a great deal in living my life to the excellence, I believe it should be lived. I am losing the ability to speak clearly so I take my time and reapeat myself and text on my phone as much as possible. The fact that one of my legs can not move as quickly as the other one do to my hemi-parasis cause me to just walk slowly. I accept the fact that I bump into stuff easily so I just take extra care where I walk. My Personal Care Manager helps me in my daily routine and helps keeps my mind active.

Protection of life

At the end of this Email is a quote of the month by Jay Leno.. If you don't read anything else, Please Read what he Said. Very well stated, Mr. Leno. TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE 1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!

First, we survived being born to mothers Who smoked and/or drank while they were Pregnant.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, Tuna from a can and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-base paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, Locks on doors or cabinets and when we rode Our bikes, we had baseball caps not helmets on our heads.

As infants & children, We would ride in cars with no car seats, No booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes.

Riding in the back of a pick-up truck on a warm day Was always a special treat.

We drank water From the garden hose and not from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, From one bottle and no one actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter and bacon.. We drank Kool-Aid made with real white sugar. And, we weren't overweight. WHY?

Because we were Always outside playing...that's why!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, As long as we were back when the Streetlights came on.

No one was able To reach us all day. And, we were O.K.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps And then ride them down the hill, only to find out We forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's and X-boxes. There were no video games, no 150 channels on cable, No video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's, No cell phones, No personal computers, no Internet and no chat rooms.

WE HAD FRIENDS And we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth And there were no lawsuits from these accidents.

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, And the worms did not live in us Forever.

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, Made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, Although we were told it would happen, We did not put out very many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and Knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just Walked in and talked to them.

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal With disappointment. Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law Was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!

These generations have produced some of the best Risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever.

The past 50 years Have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all.

If YOU are one of them?CONGRATULATIONS! You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good .

While you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave and lucky their parents were.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it ?

The quote of the month is by Jay Leno: "With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of swine flu and terrorist attacks. Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?'

For those that prefer to think that God is not watching over us.. ..go ahead and delete this.

For the rest of us...pass this on. A Small Prayer!

God determines who walks into your life....it's up to you to decide who you let walk away, who you let stay, and who you refuse to let go.

I need this back. If you'll do this for me, I'll do it for you.

When there is nothing left but God, that is when you find out that God is all you need. Take 60 seconds and give this a shot! All you do is simply say the following small prayer for the person who sent you this.

Father, God bless my friend in whatever it is that You know they may need this day! And may their life be full of your peace, prosperity, and power as he/she seeks to have a closer relationship with you. Amen.

Then send it on to five other people, including the one who sent it to you Within hours you will have caused a multitude of people to pray for other people. Then sit back and watch the power of God work in your life.

P. S... Five is good, but more is better.

Ripple Effect

You may not realize this, but by every action we take at the present moment effect and forms the future into existence. In fact while I am writing this, new ideas are forming in my head, much like water that ripples out when a stone is thrown. The stone is a physical manifestation of our thoughts and the actions they set in motion are the ripples.

If I choose this, a certain consequence will be set in motion. Whatever choice we make a different future is created. There are countless paths which can be created from one choice. Every choice has a thousand other choice leading from it.

So life, you see is a big ripple, off another ripple. My question is what started the ripples, and how long can they last? Personally my thoughts and hopes are that they will last forever.

Game of Life

Life is a game. We have to know the rules, then we will all have fun.

You have to have a good skill no matter what games of life you find yourself in. You find yourself in situations and you have to believe in yourself that you always will prevail. Just take into account who is around. It is like playing poker, I guess. You have to slowly delve into the different situations you find yourself in, for you will always prevail as you wish.

Puppy Size

'Danielle keeps repeating it over and over again. We've been back to this animal shelter at least five times. It has been weeks now since we started all of this,' the mother told the volunteer. 'What is it she keeps asking for?' the volunteer asked. 'Puppy size!' replied the mother 'Well, we have plenty of puppies, if that's what she's looking for.' 'I know..... we have seen most of them, ' the mom said in frustration...ust then Danielle came walking into the office. 'Well, did you find one?' asked her mom. 'No, not this time,' Danielle said with sadness in her voice. 'Can we come back on the weekend?' The two women looked at each other, shook their heads and laughed 'You never know when we will get more dogs. Unfortunately, there's always a supply,' the volunteer said. Danielle took her mother by the hand and headed to the door. 'Don't worry, I'll find one this weekend,' she said. Over the next few days both Mom and Dad had long conversations with her. They both felt she was being too particular. 'It's this weekend or we're not looking any more,' Dad finally said in frustration. 'We don't want to hear anything more about puppy size, either,' Mom added. Sure enough, they were the first ones in the shelter on Saturday morning . By now Danielle knew her way around, so she ran right for the section that housed the smaller dogs. Tired of the routine, mom sat in the small waiting room at the end of the first row of cages. There was an observation window so you could see the animals during times when visitors weren't permitted. Danielle walked slowly from cage to cage, kneeling periodically to take a closer look. One by one the dogs were brought out and she held each one. One by one she said, 'Sorry, but you're not the one.' It was the last cage on this last day in search of the perfect pup. The volunteer opened the cage door and the child carefully picked up the dog and held it closely. This time she took a little longer. 'Mom, that's it! I found the right puppy! He's the one! I know it!' She screamed with joy. 'It's the puppy size!' 'But it's the same size as all the other puppies you held over the last few weeks,' Mom said. 'No not size... The sighs. When I held him in my arms, he sighed,' she said. 'Don't you remember? When I asked you one day what love is, you told me love depends on the sighs of your heart. The more you love, the bigger the sigh!' The two women looked at each other for a moment. Mom didn't know whether to laugh or cry. As she stooped down to hug the child, she did a little of both. 'Mom, every time you hold me, I sigh. When you and Daddy come home from work and hug each other, you both sigh. I knew I would find the right puppy if it sighed when I held it in my arms,' she said. Then, holding the puppy up close to her face, she said, 'Mom, he loves me.. I heard the sighs of his heart!' This is the part that I would like everyone to read and do... Close your eyes for a moment and think about the love that makes you sigh. I not only find it in the arms of my loved ones, but in the caress of a sunset, the kiss of the moonlight and the gentle brush of cool air on a hot day. They are the sighs of God. Take the time to stop and listen; you will be surprised at what you hear. 'Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.' I hope your life is filled with Sighs!!! Appreciate every single thing you have, especially your friends! Life is too short and friends are too few. Life is too short to wake up with regrets. Love the people who treat you right and forget about the ones who don't.

Lifes Moras

Some of us stumble through life, while others plan out every step. There is no right or wrong way to live, just as long as you live a good life according to you.

The only person who truly is watching your life is yourself. You have to live with yourself, no one else must. You only have to prove that you are a good person to yourself.

If you believe on a higher power, that is good. He or she wants you to be happy most of all. You should not believe otherwise because why would you have the freedom to choose.

Gandhi’s Top 10 Fundamentals for Changing the World

by HENRIK EDBERG. Print “You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.”

“The difference between what we do and what we are capable of doing would suffice to solve most of the world’s problem.”

“If I had no sense of humor, I would long ago have committed suicide.”

Mahatma Gandhi needs no long introduction. Everyone knows about the man who lead the Indian people to independence from British rule in 1947.

So let’s just move on to some of my favourite tips from Mahatma Gandhi.

1. Change yourself.

“You must be the change you want to see in the world.”

“As human beings, our greatness lies not so much in being able to remake the world – that is the myth of the atomic age – as in being able to remake ourselves.”

If you change yourself you will change your world. If you change how you think then you will change how you feel and what actions you take. And so the world around you will change. Not only because you are now viewing your environment through new lenses of thoughts and emotions but also because the change within can allow you to take action in ways you wouldn’t have – or maybe even have thought about –while stuck in your old thought patterns.

And the problem with changing your outer world without changing yourself is that you will still be you when you reach that change you have strived for. You will still have your flaws, anger, negativity, self-sabotaging tendencies etc. intact.

And so in this new situation you will still not find what you hoped for since your mind is still seeping with that negative stuff. And if you get more without having some insight into and distance from your ego it may grow more powerful. Since your ego loves to divide things, to find enemies and to create separation it may start to try to create even more problems and conflicts in your life and world.

2. You are in control.

“Nobody can hurt me without my permission.”

What you feel and how you react to something is always up to you. There may be a “normal” or a common way to react to different things. But that’s mostly just all it is.

You can choose your own thoughts, reactions and emotions to pretty much everything. You don’t have to freak out, overreact of even react in a negative way. Perhaps not every time or instantly. Sometimes a knee-jerk reaction just goes off. Or an old thought habit kicks in.

And as you realize that no-one outside of yourself can actually control how you feel you can start to incorporate this thinking into your daily life and develop it as a thought habit. A habit that you can grow stronger and stronger over time. Doing this makes life a whole lot easier and more pleasurable.

3. Forgive and let it go.

“The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong.”

“An eye for eye only ends up making the whole world blind.”

Fighting evil with evil won’t help anyone. And as said in the previous tip, you always choose how to react to something. When you can incorporate such a thought habit more and more into your life then you can react in a way that is more useful to you and others.

You realize that forgiving and letting go of the past will do you and the people in your world a great service. And spending your time in some negative memory won’t help you after you have learned the lessons you can learn from that experience. You’ll probably just cause yourself more suffering and paralyze yourself from taking action in this present moment.

If you don’t forgive then you let the past and another person to control how you feel. By forgiving you release yourself from those bonds. And then you can focus totally on, for instance, the next point.

4. Without action you aren’t going anywhere.

“An ounce of practice is worth more than tons of preaching.”

Without taking action very little will be done. However, taking action can be hard and difficult. There can be much inner resistance.

And so you may resort to preaching, as Gandhi says. Or reading and studying endlessly. And feeling like you are moving forward. But getting little or no practical results in real life.

So, to really get where you want to go and to really understand yourself and your world you need to practice. Books can mostly just bring you knowledge. You have to take action and translate that knowledge into results and understanding.

You can check out a few effective tips to overcome this problem in How to Take More Action: 9 Powerful Tips. Or you can move on to the next point for more on the best tip for taking more action that I have found so far.

5. Take care of this moment.

“I do not want to foresee the future. I am concerned with taking care of the present. God has given me no control over the moment following.”

The best way that I have found to overcome the inner resistance that often stops us from taking action is to stay in the present as much as possible and to be accepting.

Why? Well, when you are in the present moment you don’t worry about the next moment that you can’t control anyway. And the resistance to action that comes from you imagining negative future consequences – or reflecting on past failures – of your actions loses its power. And so it becomes easier to both take action and to keep your focus on this moment and perform better.

Have a look at 8 Ways to Return to the Present Moment for tips on how quickly step into the now. And remember that reconnecting with and staying in the now is a mental habit – a sort of muscle – that you grow. Over time it becomes more powerful and makes it easier to slip into the present moment.

6. Everyone is human.

“I claim to be a simple individual liable to err like any other fellow mortal. I own, however, that I have humility enough to confess my errors and to retrace my steps.”

“It is unwise to be too sure of one’s own wisdom. It is healthy to be reminded that the strongest might weaken and the wisest might err.”

When you start to make myths out of people – even though they may have produced extraordinary results – you run the risk of becoming disconnected from them. You can start to feel like you could never achieve similar things that they did because they are so very different. So it’s important to keep in mind that everyone is just a human being no matter who they are.

And I think it’s important to remember that we are all human and prone to make mistakes. Holding people to unreasonable standards will only create more unnecessary conflicts in your world and negativity within you.

It’s also important to remember this to avoid falling into the pretty useless habit of beating yourself up over mistakes that you have made. And instead be able to see with clarity where you went wrong and what you can learn from your mistake. And then try again.

7. Persist.

“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.”

Be persistent. In time the opposition around you will fade and fall away. And your inner resistance and self-sabotaging tendencies that want to hold you back and keep you like you have always been will grow weaker.

Find what you really like to do. Then you’ll find the inner motivation to keep going, going and going. You can also find a lot of useful tips on how keep your motivation up in How to Get Out of a Motivational Slump and 25 Simple Ways to Motivate Yourself.

One reason Gandhi was so successful with his method of non-violence was because he and his followers were so persistent. They just didn’t give up.

Success or victory will seldom come as quickly as you would have liked it to. I think one of the reasons people don’t get what they want is simply because they give up too soon. The time they think an achievement will require isn’t the same amount of time it usually takes to achieve that goal. This faulty belief partly comes from the world we live in. A world full of magic pill solutions where advertising continually promises us that we can lose a lot of weight or earn a ton of money in just 30 days. You can read more about this in One Big Mistake a Whole Lot of People Make.

Finally, one useful tip to keep your persistence going is to listen to Gandhi’s third quote in this article and keep a sense of humor. It can lighten things up at the toughest of times.

8. See the good in people and help them.

“I look only to the good qualities of men. Not being faultless myself, I won’t presume to probe into the faults of others.”

“Man becomes great exactly in the degree in which he works for the welfare of his fellow-men.”

“I suppose leadership at one time meant muscles; but today it means getting along with people.”

There is pretty much always something good in people. And things that may not be so good. But you can choose what things to focus on. And if you want improvement then focusing on the good in people is a useful choice. It also makes life easier for you as your world and relationships become more pleasant and positive.

And when you see the good in people it becomes easier to motivate yourself to be of service to them. By being of service to other people, by giving them value you not only make their lives better. Over time you tend to get what you give. And the people you help may feel more inclined to help other people. And so you, together, create an upward spiral of positive change that grows and becomes stronger.

By strengthening your social skills you can become a more influential person and make this upward spiral even stronger. A few articles that may provide you with useful advice in that department are Do You Make These 10 Mistakes in a Conversation? and Dale Carnegie’s Top 10 Tips for Improving Your Social Skills. Or you can just move on to the next tip.

9. Be congruent, be authentic, be your true self.

“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.”

“Always aim at complete harmony of thought and word and deed. Always aim at purifying your thoughts and everything will be well.”

I think that one of the best tips for improving your social skills is to behave in a congruent manner and communicate in an authentic way. People seem to really like authentic communication. And there is much inner enjoyment to be found when your thoughts, words and actions are aligned. You feel powerful and good about yourself.

When words and thoughts are aligned then that shows through in your communication. Because now you have your voice tonality and body language – some say they are over 90 percent of communication – in alignment with your words.

With these channels in alignment people tend to really listen to what you’re saying. You are communicating without incongruency, mixed messages or perhaps a sort of phoniness.

Also, if your actions aren’t in alignment with what you’re communicating then you start to hurt your own belief in what you can do. And other people’s belief in you too.

10. Continue to grow and evolve.

”Constant development is the law of life, and a man who always tries to maintain his dogmas in order to appear consistent drives himself into a false position.”

You can pretty much always improve your skills, habits or re-evaluate your evaluations. You can gain deeper understanding of yourself and the world.

Sure, you may look inconsistent or like you don’t know what you are doing from time to time. You may have trouble to act congruently or to communicate authentically. But if you don’t then you will, as Gandhi says, drive yourself into a false position. A place where you try to uphold or cling to your old views to appear consistent while you realise within that something is wrong. It’s not a fun place to be. To choose to grow and evolve is a happier and more useful path to take.

Star of Life

You can only burn for so long. As soon as you stop growing you begin to fade, it is extremely difficult to stop fading and reenergize once you have begun to fade, but it is possible.

A way to stop your fading is by asking questions. Life, in essence is the constant search for what makes you happy. What makes you happy one moment may not another. It is extremely illusion.

Modern Life

Life is not…

Life is not Facebook that can accommodate 5000 friends

Life is not Google that can search sites to questions you are seeking with

Life is more than your notebook, you PC or the internet

Life is not the phone, the tablet or any modern gadget

And life is not the noise, the song, or the music being played

Life is more than the fast food chain that can give your order instantly

Satiate your hunger, your delight and your cravings.

Life is more than the supermarket or the neighborhood grocery.

Life is more than the physical foods or the clothes or any raiment

There’s more to life than all these things!

Life is not the can of soda that can quench your thirst

Life is not the cigarette which you presume can relieve your stress

Life is not the beer that gives a minute of forgetfulness

Life is not the ashtray or the garbage where you dump your waste

Life is more than merry making, earthly pleasure, or worldly happiness

Life is not the chocolate, cup of coffee or a mug of tea

Life is more than the jewelries or your accessories

Life is not a toilet where you visit to defecate

Life is more than the bar you go to escape life’s regrets

and life is not the pill that frees you for an hour of anxieties.

Life is not the house, the car, the money or the vacation!

Life is not the party, the extravagance, and the frivolities

So don’t be in despair you cannot get all of these or these were taken away

Don’t be contemptuous to your dear ones if they cannot give you these

There’s more to life than all of these

Lifes Potholes

Like a pothole in an otherwise smooth road,
there are also pothole-like people in your life
that you ought to avoid.
Potholes can be enemies or plastic friends
or they can be incorrect ideas
or unsolicited situations
They can be tangible or intangible
Potholes are there,
Giving you a moment of reality check
That you are traveling and not stagnating
That you are in motion and not at halt
Big or small
Potholes can be irritating or enjoying.
You can avoid them
You can cover them
Neglect them and meet them again
as you go on with your travel
in the road called life.
But sometimes it can be enjoyable
to bump with those potholes once in a while.

Personal-care attendant Daniel L. Curcio doesn’t just care for his client, Yeremiah Hardt — he cares about him.

Curcio met Hardt about six years ago at an LGBT festival and quickly grew fond of him, and ultimately invited Hardt to move into his Center City apartment.

Hardt, 31, has been disabled since age 5, when he nearly drowned in a swimming pool.

“Basically, I’m with him 24/7,” Curcio said, noting that he prepares Hardt’s meals, assists with his physical and mental exercises, administers his medications, takes him to doctors’ visits and assists him with personal hygiene.

For the first four years of their relationship, Curcio received no compensation for his services — a situation that put a strain on the caretaker.

“I felt overly selfless,” said Curcio, 38.

In 2007, due to Curcio’s intervention, Hardt became eligible for medical-assistance funding through the state Department of Public Welfare, and Curcio now receives $80 per day to care for him.

Curcio calls the compensation “an insult, a slap in the face,” citing he also receives no healthcare benefits, sick leave or vacation.

But for a sizable settlement from his former employer in a job-discrimination grievance, Curcio said, he could never make ends meet.

“I’m barely scraping by,” he said.

Earlier this month, Curcio and Hardt addressed some 250 demonstrators at a rally to encourage Gov. Rendell to create a consumer workforce council that would negotiate with state officials to improve wages and benefits for Pennsylvania’s personal-care attendants.

Other states, including Massachusetts, New York and California, have formed similar councils. “Those states have programs that are working well and saving the state money,” Curcio said. “Why is our state so backward?”

If an attendants’ union is formed in Pennsylvania, Curcio said he would like to lead its LGBT caucus.

Chuck Ardo, a spokesperson for Rendell, said the governor is sympathetic to the activists’ goals.

“The governor agrees there should be better wages and benefits,” Ardo said. “He supports the council in principle. But there are impediments, and the administration is working with consumers, providers and funders to find a middle ground that all can agree to. We do understand the urgency and the necessity of the concerns.”

Hardt said that until Pennsylvania begins to value personal-care providers like Curcio, the commonwealth also is devaluing those who need the care.

“The government only listens when people unite,” Hardt said. “If we don’t form a union, the government will continue to ignore us. By paying Dan so little, the state is saying my life is worth little. We have to get organized, like the nursing homes are organized. But we don’t want to be in a nursing home. We want to be in the community. And we should be allowed to be.”

Charisse Seneres, organizing director of AFSCME Local 1199C, which represents more than 10,000 healthcare workers in Philadelphia, said her union is receptive to Hardt’s concerns.

“We support good jobs, with family-sustaining wages and health benefits for all workers,” Seneres said in a statement. “It’s exciting to see home-care consumers, seniors and their attendants stand up together for an initiative like the consumer workforce council that is a win-win for everyone. Home-care workers are largely invisible in our healthcare system. This is a chance for them to win a voice.”

But not everyone who attended last week’s rally wants a council.

Jesse G. Charles, 46, a quadriplegic from Lancaster, said a consumer workforce council would create more “red tape” within a system already burdened with bureaucracy.

“I can’t endorse the council, “ Charles told PGN. “It would bring another level of bureaucracy to the system. The budget for a council would be better used directly for the consumer.”

Charles said he recruits his own attendants, who are managed by United Disabilities Services, an agency based in Lancaster that he has utilized for 21 years. UDS offers healthcare benefits to its attendants who work full-time, he added.

“The agency also does state and federal checks to make sure my attendants are screened properly,” he said. “I have no complaints.”

Curcio said elderly and disabled individuals who use personal-care attendants would have a majority representation on the council, that way they could ensure any changes made to the system are consumer-driven and in their best interests.

“Remember, a union will only form when there’s a consumer workforce council in place to ensure that consumers’ voices are given the utmost priority in any negotiations that take place with the state,” he said.

A public hearing to discuss the proposed council will be held at 9:30 a.m. April 28 in Hearing Room One of the Capitol Building in Harrisburg.

“The reason for the hearing is to learn more about the concept of the council,” said Amy P. Bolze, executive director of the state Senate Committee on Aging and Youth. “We’re hearing from advocates and opponents, and we’re trying to sort it all out.”

Recipe of Life

I believe the recipe for happiness to be just enough to pay the monthly bills you acquire, a little surplus to give you confidence, a little to much work each day, enthusiasm for your work, a substantial share of good health as well as a couple real friends, a wife, and children to share life's beauty with you.

Matching Orders

Why does everything we do have to need to match someone’s expectation and that not being our own? We, as a race, think we need to follow someone else's rules. While that is true to some extent, we need to be able to express ourselves as well as respond to a situation as honestly as well as truthfully as possible. If we don't do this we will not be living as well as we can. Truth is all there is, basically. If we are not honest as well as truthful with ourselves, how can we expect to be truthful with others.
Falseness leads to disease. Why do people as oppose to other species now suffer from so much disease? We have way to many problems because we always have to be in control. What happens when you cage an animal? It eventually dies of malnutrition or lack of exercise. In essence our control which leads to worry is our biggest disease our race has ever faced.
Why do we find that we need to organize everything to our own standards, as well as make sure they are in line with everyone else’s ideals?
Why is it so hard for us to speak our minds, as well as be honest with everyone around us? What are we afraid of?

Matrices

The Matrix is all around us, as the movie leads us to believe. It, however, is not about the restraints put on us by computers, it is about the restraints we unconsciously put on ourselves. Don't get me wrong, we all need rules, however not as much. We need to find a balance between rules as well as imagination and fun.
We want this perfect life, and while it may exist, we miss the nice little things we now have within life. We have to pause a little and enjoy life as we have it.

Being Present

Being Present

It was a dimly lit restaurant. Still she was dressed in pink, and while I admit it's hard to tell the gender of babies, clothing color is a reliable clue. So, it surprised me when the waitress began pying with my granddaughter, asking

"How old is he?"

Twenty minutes later, that same waitress served our dinners into my daughter-in-law's lap, spilling the contents of her tray as she approached the table. We made light of the occurrence, assisting her with basic cleanup, but the interaction got me thinking.

I've met and managed too many people who operate like that waitress. They're "at work" but not "present." Preoccupied. Disengaged. Daydreaming. Bored. Text Messaging. Socializing. Whatever. Their body is somewhere their mind isn't. They're easy to spot as they go about their tasks in a robotic dance of just
enough-to-get-by-ness.

These disengaged people seem unaware their present actions carve their future opportunities. They're surprised when they don't get the biggest raise, next promotion, or most interesting work. They're astonished when the fun project or great client doesn't come their way. After all, they've earned it. They've put in their time.

But time spent is not the important currency at work, nor is it a key to winning at working. What's prized is your presence; your engaged passion; yours enhanced efforts.

Malcolm Forbes said, "Presence is more than just being there." He's right. Presence is conscious action and deliberate intention. Presence is purposeful engagement of self. And that purposeful engagement differentiates people who are winning at working from people who aren't.

You see, when you go through the motions or come to work without being engaged, you're passing time. It's not only the boss or the company or the customer you short change - it's yourself.

Passing time diminishes your ability to be winning at working, reducing your opportunities, financial gains, and interesting work. Passing time hinders you from living your potential.

Whether you're bussing tables or performing surgery, stocking shelves or drafting briefs, cleaning houses or teaching classes, you can't be offering the best of who you are to your work, your life, or yourself unless you're engaged, conscious, attentive, and intentional about the tasks you're doing. And I'd wager you can't be enjoying your work much either.

But here's the thing. Even if those tasks are far from your interests, when you're intentionally engaged, time flies. Purposeful engagement transforms the way you think about and approach your work, allowing you to both learn and contribute.

People who are winning at working know that being present magnifies their results, enhances their potential, and creates their future. They're not just at work, they're actively in it.

Relax

To alleviate the ills of the the stress in this world as well as within ourselves, I believe relaxation is the key. More easily said than done. But if we think of the consequences that stress leads to, for example, stress causes irritablity, causes road rage, causes car accidents, causing detriment to ourselves and others, we may think before taking action on our negative emotions. A leading factor is that we may do something else like drinking in excess. Stress leads to worrry, leads to a desire to go to the bar, leads to drinking, leads to risky behavior, leading to negative outcomes that we may regret later. Why do we do that? We do this because alcohol relaxes us only for a short time and believe agressive behavior is cathartic. What we are left with is misjudging the space between us and the car ahead of us and a possible STI after hooking up. Instead, leave earlier when going somewhere as to allow plenty of time and when you are feeling tense and go out to bowl or play miniature golf. As we are too busy every day we hardly ever take the time we need to “stop and smell the roses.” You want to hit the RELAX button now? We have to stop over-crowding our agenda. Have some time to yourself, not just when you are asleep. Make your life fun again. Play a little and laugh a lot.

Just around the corner

The unknown should be intriguing as oppose to fearful. New opportunities bring about new life. With each choice we have, we receive two or more options which lead to innumerable outcomes.

Gaining knowledge

Living is a process of gaining knowledge otherwise known as learning. Each and every day you learn something new. We learn from all that happens to us. You never stop learning. Living is learning. Communicating with one another is learning.

Talk Shows

Talk Show hosts are replacing the world of counseling. Watching these talk shows hardly solve any problems. They are just making the problems worse in a way, by giving people more to be ashamed of. They are just fueling the negativity within people’s lives and causing more anguish, pain and suffering.

Immortality disease

Immortality is one of the greatest diseases in existence. Existence is meant to end after a certain amount of time. Immortality is a static nonexistent way of being.
In this endless loop life becomes monotonous as well as ever so tiring.
